Are you an adult with an ADHD/ADD diagnosis or show traits of ADHD in your daily life? Do you experience challenges with managing stress, balancing work and leisure, or planning and organising tasks?

I run a six-week program for adults at Compass Psychology. The course aims to introduce:

  • Deepen your understanding of the neuroscience of ADHD brain and the role of executive functions.

  • Motivation and Task Initiation: Tackling Procrastination

  • Planning and prioritizing: – Combatting Distractions

  • Addressing negative and unproductive thought patterns

  • Emotional regulation and distress tolerance

Why should you attend this course? Is it relevant to you?

ADHD often brings challenges and unique experiences to those affected by it. One may wonder what is wrong with them or why they’re not like others, which creates feelings of shame and isolation.

A group therapy setting is particularly effective in dismantling feelings of shame related to ADHD. As individuals share their stories, they discover that others in the group have faced similar difficulties. This realisation helps break down the walls of shame, fostering a sense of understanding, acceptance and even humour.

Group members learn that their struggles are not personal failings but rather manifestations of a neurological condition. Moreover, group therapy offers unique insights into the daily struggles of individuals with ADHD.

As participants openly discuss their experiences, patterns, and coping mechanisms, others gain valuable perspectives that may feel more personal and realistic. Insights gained from group discussions can be practical and applicable, offering participants a collection of strategies to manage their symptoms effectively.

Your time in the sessions will enable you to:

  •   Understand your neurodiversity—your unique way of thinking.

  •   Connect with others facing similar challenges.

  •   Learn practical strategies to manage stress.

  •   Learn to improve your planning and execution skills – Skills that will assist you in achieving your goals.
